Hand and Wrist Pain Symptoms

• The hands and wrists may not move properly, and there are instances when swelling may occur at the joints.
• A bump (swelling) may be noticed on the wrist. Medics will refer to the bump as a ganglion cyst.
• There are frequent experiences of writer’s cramps that make writing or typing difficult.
• A clicking or shifting sound when fingers or wrist move.
• The arthritis starts with the thickening or swelling of the fingers and the sheath covering the wrist. The thickening eventually causes limited hand movements.
• Tendon pain (tendinosis) and decreased hand movement.
• Pain in the hand joints when lifting an object or gripping a doorknob. The pain may start at the elbow and move down to the wrist.

Hand and Wrist Pain Complications

Joint pains need the immediate attention of an orthopaedic doctor. The painful wrist can cause permanent forearm immobility. In situations when hand pain occurs after bone infections, there is a high chance of the patient developing internal wound complications. The wrist bones wound infections (wrist arthrodesis). Orthopaedic physicians use anti-inflammatory drugs to treat the hand pain. The severe cases of bone infections may require bone tissue implants.
